Alberta bound baby
Icefields highway. I have a pick about 200ft up the road from here
Edit: pic* engineer, don’t write good :)
A pick? What's a pick?
It's what you play guitar with.
No it's what teams choose in a draft.
No it's what you use to stab your teeth
It's a new player to a sport team in the draft.
I knew it! I get to live right in this area. :D
I’m quite jealous of that view
Lake Abraham from the looks of it
Pretty sure its Bow
It’s definitely Bow Lake
near AB-93, Improvement District No. 9, AB
Banff National Park
Such nice roads and the name is improvement district?
u/justintrudeau please change to improved district No. 9
In Alberta there are still some areas with low population and don’t have local municipal government. So the province manages these areas. 5 of these areas are located in National parks such as Banff National Park where this photo was taken.
For more information on these “Improvement Districts” see the following link.
Nah, it's Bow lake. That the left hand turn ( south bound ) on 93n right before the turn for num ti ja ( or w.e ) where you park to access the Wapta icefields via bow lake. I've skied a couloir just tucked behind the cloud. Unless I am completely out to lunch of course but I know the area pretty well.
I agree with you, I knew I recognized it was there not too long ago.
I thought I ticked the wapta off my bucket list this year but now I really want to go back.
So much to do!
Looks like hwy 11 eastbound from Kootney plains coming up on Abraham.
The mountains have a certain look in alberta... Like they freshly tore through the crust.
Every time I drive the ice fields the word concave just floats around in my head. The mountains are so darn concave.
Water looks so clear so I thought it is sky.
oh now I see why people are fooled to think it's 2 pics
Honestly if it wasn't for the title I probably wouldn't have noticed. But I went in looking for a trick picture... so I got one.
Yep, I kept staring at it ... read comments ... stared some more ... read more comments ... OHH! The sky part is a lake!
Edit: and I still have to make myself see the lake.
Yeah, I had to force myself to see the lake.
But it is not because guess what it is the same picture wow mind blown
I was about to call bullshit on this post until I read your comment. Thank you for your explanation.
It looks like one picture.
Took the words right out of my mouth
It looks like he took the words right out of your mouth
It appears as though the original person you were speaking to had expressed the same sentiment you yourself were just about to.
It appears as if this is one response. Good work
Thank you, Perd.
*buhh buhh* Oh it musta’ been while you were kissing me
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh and I swear it's true, I was just about to say I love you.
Hey! Give those back!
You'll never believe it, it actually *is* one picture.
It doesn't look like anything to me.
Well, yeah and no. I've looked at this a few times, some of those times it does look more like two
If I start looking at the image from the bottom I can sorta see the illusion.
True because you think the blue is sky whereas from the top it makes more sense as water
Great picture, reminds me of my travels in Alberta and B.C when stationed at BATUS.
[This is the point](https://email@example.com,-116.4670952,3a,52.9y,154.09h,86.06t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sk6scpQLxW_3RpqCbLdXFAw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) more or less where it was taken.
And here for mobile who can't get out of street view
This could have had a better headline. Good picture though.
but that was just one headline
It had the same headline last time it was posted, too.
Impressive use of the rule of thirds.
can you explain? i feel a but dumb for not getting it.
Happily! So this is all one photograph taken at one time. The lake at the foot of the mountain with it's nearly straight shore gives it an illusion of the bottom third being a separate photo. My comment regards that line, as well as the cloud line that splits the snow caps with the runoff on the face of the mountain. It creates an image with three distinct fields, which is one of the rules of photography.
omg i see it now! thanks!
Yah I didn’t see it either. Even after explanation my mind fought me for a sec.
I was starting to think this was that damn blue gold dress thing
The rule of thirds isn’t really a “rule” it’s more of a recommendation like all rules of photography. Some of the best photos of all time completely disregard it purposefully.
But I’m sure you know this!
Yes, and I'd love to say more but I can't really add anything. Shot composition is more art than science, and the rules are just guidelines until you develop (heh) a better sense for what makes a good shot composition.
I thought rule of thirds applied to putting the subject in one of the thirds of a grid. I can’t think of how to phrase that
Edit: googled after commenting for some reason, you right
You’re right as well (if I’m understanding you correctly).
It can refer to placing your subject's eye on one of the intersections (once the frame is divided into thirds), it could refer to placing your horizon on the bottom or top third line, etc.
edit: people are saying Bow Lake in Banff and google confirms. Also looks like the drive between Yoho and Jasper though (which has a lot fewer people)
It’s on the icefields parkway between Jasper and Banff.
Is that the road that runs by Athabasca Glacier? That's where I thought it was at first, but google made me second guess myself
This is the 500th repost
What do I win?
Looks like Seward Highway
The mountain looks like a Bob Ross painting come to life lol
Took me awhile...
Oh, that's water.
Lazy fucking title
This is the number one: 1
Haha. So is it Bow Lake, Abraham Lake, or Waterfowl Lake?
You don't know me.. I will forget this by the time I wake up. Alcohols a hell of a drug
Took me a moment to process this photo.
I too have eyes and am over the age of 3. Thank you.
This is the Simpson movie photo of Alaska photo
As opposed to what?
if (picture_list.size() == 1)
//as opposed to what here
There are many like it, but this one is.... someone else's because there's no credit given. I only see it as a stock image. and didn't bother checking further.
Waterfowl Lake, Banff, Alberta CAN is what comes up with an image search.
It’s obviously 3 pictures
It sure is
That is one picture.
This is only twenty six letters.
This is messing with my head.
Yeah no shit
I looked at this pic way too long before realizing it was litterally.one picture.
I came to say bullshit until I saw the comment about water.
This looks like a Bob Ross painting
Well you know the saying: 'one picture is worth a thousand other pictures.'
Thank you. Here is one upvote.
It’s not the what it is, but the where it is?
Holy shit this fucked with me.
That mountain wave is gonna wreck your day
The earth is flat'nt
Where is this?
First I read the caption “this is one picture”, then I looked at the picture and saw one picture.
Then I reread the caption, and understood what the caption meant, and had to look harder to try to see the picture wrong so I could understand the caption.
It was a wild ride.
First glimpse, of course it's one picture, watch two seconds, wait a minute...
Serious mind f for a min there
No it's not
The emphasis on "one" is brilliant.
I didn’t beleve it until my brain figured out that that wasn’t sky “above” the truck, but water.
Aaaaand I’m having a stroke
What is that.... a truck for ANTS???!!!!
This boggled my mind for a good minute.
Yes it is. And...?
This is a mind blown!
happy little clouds...
Took a minute
Where is this?
r e p o s s s s t
Is this the Crusty crab
Yes...yes it is.
This is one upvote
That was me in my chevy S-10 gittin it.
Been there, took the same.pic
This is dope
Looks like the road to Banff, Alberta
I think I know this road.... Is this in Banff?
Banff take me back :O
wow. when it hits you that its not two pictures. just wow.
Omg! I almost didn't see the body floating in the water!
If I made one person go back to look for a body, my life is complete.
Even though I know what’s going on here my brain still won’t accept it
Ohhh, it's a fucking lake... didn't see it the last time i saw this pic. Shit...
I don't think that is hard to believe.
This is fake the pixel density is different in the two parts of the image.
That is absolutely breath taking.

Yes it is.
No this is Patrick.
Love the Icefields parkway and Bow lake! Still awesome even on a cloudy day!
I can hear the song from The Shining play when looking at this picture
This is another comment.
Well you blew my mind. Awesome picture.
I bet that’s Banff because half of nature photos on Reddit are from Banff
it looks like it too
It looks like the drive between Valemount and Jasper
Coincidentally, I have that photo as my background on my phone.
It is known
Looks like a bob ross painting
Its one of the few pics on this sub that actually looks untampered.
My eyes are tripping
