I heard its Oktoberfest, time to party!

Best music song!
The clowns showing up in this thread moaning about social distancing, renaming kitchener Berlin, etc.. get a life. How miserable are you goofs coming in to shit on a funny meme post. Oktoberfest is a wonderful thing to celebrate. You all would have us cancel the whole thing to satisfy your lonely, grumpy old saggy asses. So cheesy.
Nice post OP. My favorite is the beer barrel polka by the legend himself. Enjoy and happy Oktoberfest.
It only gets weirder in the full version lol
And they did a goofy retake in 2016 lol
I’m going to be honest here: After living here for 20+ years and considering Kitchener my adopted home I fail to see how Oktoberfest holds any interest for anyone other than a very small subsection of the population. It’s an obnoxious and exclusionary drunk fest filled with bad food, bad music and unpleasant people with absolutely no entry points for non-“club” members, no forward-thinking ideas and no opportunities for growth to involve the actual demographics of this city.
Growing up here, its supposed ti be a celebration of the people, family and harvest, ties in neatly with thanksgiving. While I do not disagree that its roots are muddled in the comercialism of it, no thanks to the monies being funded by the likes of Molson, there are groups trying to change this because they too are tired of what it has become. But you comments on demographics? so on top of this, we should cancel anything to the public that would include bit not limited to easter, xmas, new years, ramadan, maple syrup festival, apples, Thanksgiving, ribfest, carnival, weddings, and any other type of holiday or celebration/tradition just so people who do not participate with these traditions and celebrations, are not offended? while we are at it, lets ban all religious gatherings, buildings, any written religious documents, posted or for sale, the wearing of any religious symbol, any greeting aside from hello or hi, and all music publically banned and or made illlegal...so im really lost at what youre getting at, and quite frankly, its a "German" settled region, what did you exspect? midget tossing? walking around the freaking may pole? would you prefer if we just make every single tradition and celebration one day a year for the whole country, and call it the Neutral Zone? that way everyone can be prepared to get everything out of the way for the year in one single day, and move on.
I agree it's like what Taco Bell is to Mexican culture (read: an insult) but to German culture. They don't even sell proper German beer at the festhallen ...Coors Light? Da fuq.
A giant tent full of people stumbling around in kitsch (read: non authentic) Leiderhosen and Dirndls after drinking shit American beer is really not anything amazing but the locals love it so meh
Agree around the inclusivity or lack thereof...it's not easily open to visible minorities - always Courtney Shantz or Tammy Weber or McKayleigh Eby or some such who is front and centre - I'd like to see Bardish Chagger in a dirndl reppin' it for KW and some proper German beer no Molson Coors garbage
If your sole goal is a ~~hole~~ to get inebriated and dance around to bad polka while guzzling that Coors then - Prost!
Enjoy your ziggy zaggy and Coors Light.
You and everyone else can too. Its literally open to anyone. There is literally absolutely 100% no gateway blocking any minority. Give us an example. Just one. Who is stopping people from buying a ticket based upon race or gender or whatever else? Who? Where is this happening?
Anything you like that I don't want to participate in needs to be canceled.
They sell german beer at the german clubs.. the ethnic german clubs told the "oktoberfest parent company" to pound sand about the "only molsons". When me and the family were at the Schwaben club last week they were selling Hofbrau, hacker-pschorr, paulaner, erdinger, warsteiner and a few others..
if you love oktoberfest, maybe rename the city back to its original name of berlin, since it was built up by us germans
> maybe rename the city back to its original name of berlin
Actually, it's original name was Sandhills. Then Ebytown. Then Berlin. Now Kitchener
Something something a roses name ...
If you’d read through that link, you’d see that it wasn’t named Berlin until 1833.
Canada wasn't really a thing till about, 1869. At that time we were a British colony so yes and no, it's a matter of perspective
Confederacy was in 1867, but that’s irrelevant. It’s really a matter of history, not perspective. Before 1833, it was not Berlin. The area of Berlin was, in fact, called Ebytown.
I don’t mean to be a dick about it, just you referenced a wiki page that blatantly disproves your point if you read read past the summary.
holy. fuck. someone buy this person a book.
Party safely and socially distanced is what you meant to say right?
It also would have been cool to link to a video of some local content and not a overly used meme video. But alas, that's how we get the university crowd romping around in their stag shop tracht.
God forbid someone wants to post something fun on the internet. You must be really fun at [socially distanced and responsible] parties.
Oh, is this overly used? Saw it for the first time this weekend, shame on me.
Saw videos at bingemans of large crowds on dance floor with no social distancing and maybe 10% wearing masks. But bingeman knows half of regional council so nothing will happen (just like that guy who died at thier oktoberfest a few years back when he drowned in the grand river)..
Went to schwaben club on one of thier Sunday "family days" and they were very on top of masks being worn when walking around and social distancing etc.
Heard that the concordia was the same thing as Schwaben..
But cultural clubs seem to care more about thier patrons than some big business
Here's some local content
Found the worst person on reddit and probably kitchener to invite to a party. Settle down man. Stay in your house, close those blinds, everything is going to be OK..
He gonna party with Palmela Handerson
