My Christmas payout from my parents.

I got an instant pot as well! Using it for potatoes tonight as a test run
Try it for beans! Black beans from dry in 45 minutes is what sold me on Instant Pot cooking! Have fun!
The instant pot is great. I use it for beans, rice, and soups mainly. Have also used it for pork shoulder, ribs, and as a slow cooker for a decent number of things.
I've got two 4lb pork shoulders in the basement freezer, also NEED to make beans... Need....
Awesome. And I didn't get anything :(
*"I got a rock"*
My mother gave my brother a bag of ratty t shirts from high school I left in my room to give to me
I got the flu
Nice! I received the same Dutch oven. It’s already hard at work.
Hot sauce making kit? I am so intrigued
It has ingredients to make different types. It even comes with dried ghost chilis!
It is! Some time this week I'm going to make a mango habanero sauce!
Be careful with those ghost chili’s... uh trust me it’s from experience.
I would like to hear the story!
Well it was that my brother said that jalapeños were to spicy and I was like “oh yeah, well watch this!” And I ate a entire ghost chili to “show off” and regretted it for about hour after words.
Sounds about right.
One time I accidentally consumed capsaicin extract. It hurt.
Now that's a story that needs to be told...
I was 17 years old, at a friend's house unsupervised, having a Mountaindew fueled all nighter.
My buddy really enjoyed hot foods and somehow convinced his parents to buy him a bottle of capsaicin extract.
A couple of the guys wanted to show how big and tough they were, so the each had a drop of it; resulting in crying, puking, and a lot of whining.
I held the bottle. I screwed the lid on. Then, I noticed a smear of it on my hand so I wiped it off on a paper towel.
A couple of seconds later I ate a potato chip.... You see where this is going?
Your misfortune makes me giggle, thanks!
Yeah, I look back on it and smile.
I got an Instant Pot too! And a 12 inch cast iron skillet!!!!
What are you making first?
I used my Instant Pot to soften potatoes for mashed potatoes last night. My cast iron skillet will get broken in by frying some pork loin sliders. And once all our current meals that we've planned have been eaten I'm going on an Instant Pot kick. I'm thinking chicken tikka masala first.
That tikka masala sounds like a really good idea!
Same we are making our Christmas ham in it!
How was the ham? I made my thanksgiving ham in my IP and used a can of pineapple slices poured over the top of the ham and the pineapple juice was enough liquid to not need any water or broth. It was probably the best ham I've ever made.
My mother hates pineapple and sweet ham. So we made a "smoked" ham and it came out pretty good!
That sounds good, too. I was just happy to save the oven space that I needed for turkey/sides.
AND an Instant pot?
I'm very jealous!
I'm a college student who lives on campus. So these are going to make my meals way better!
So good! I got a hmd Tupperware Chef Series paella pan from my mom. It's stainless, not CI, but at 14 inches, it'll be my biggest skillet-like pan of any material. Worth a try!
Hell of a haul! So, what's first?
I made the Christmas ham in the Dutch oven and I used the Instapot to make sweet potato casserole.
I got the hot sauce making kit as well! I'd be interested in hearing how it turns out if you're willing to share.
