As a native Chinese I never heard this "joke" and it's not funny at all.
I made it up, excuse my being a new Chinese learner if it is not funny
There's nothing anti-Semitic about this, it's a homophone pun on two Chinese words and one English word.
The only two things it literally says about Jewish people are: 1) they don't eat pork, and 2) they do believe in God.
You can take your baseless manufactured outrage somewhere else.
I am part Jewish
Even visually the joke doesn’t really work. This Christian portrayal of g-d has zero relation to how Jews would describe him/her/it, and goes against the very idea of idolatry…The pig is cute though
That’s why I choose that pic of the pig. Glad you like it! I didn’t feel like putting YahWeh next to the pig. But Christian God is more acceptable, if it had to be done.
Geez idk who made you bitter towards language learners but go have a seat and take a chill pill please. As a “native Chinese” you should know better than to assume a learner would have a perfect understanding of Chinese humor to make a “proper” joke. Plus, humor is subjective. Chill.
He didn’t say it wasn’t proper he said it wasn’t funny.
I use these kind of mnemonic devices sometimes. Given my username I feel obligated to add one: you can build a sukkah with 竹.
…I tried 🤷♂️
It's a kind of amusing bilingual pun but tbh not that funny in this format, and the very Christian image of God and use of 主 doesn't really fit. I appreciate the thought and effort that went into it though!
I think you could probably make the 猪/Jew joke work better in a stand-up comedy sort of situation.
When I started studying Chinese, my friend gave me the Chinese surname 朱 for this exact reason. I always found it hysterical uttering the phrase “我姓Jew”.
The other day, I tried this joke on a Chinese person, and she laughed so hard, and said, “我姓朱”
My wife found it funny, dw.
This is gonna be a stretch, but German is like Germ or Gem, I know it’s a stretch, but Gem is like Jewel
